In 2024, the league has augmented its team salary cap, granting each team a total of $255.4 million, along with an additional $74 million per club payment designated for player benefits. These benefits encompass Performance Based Pay and support for retired players, bringing the total cost for players to approximately $329.4 million. Notably, the salary cap has experienced a significant increase of $30 million for this season, rising from $224.8 million in the previous year.
NFL reporter Ian Rapoport explained in a social media post, “The unprecedented $30M increase per club in this year’s Salary Cap is the result of the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic as well as an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season.”
