A popular Lexington nightlife spot connected to University of Kentucky sports culture has officially closed its doors, leaving many fans shocked and emotional. Sallie Jane’s, the bar and restaurant owned by well-known UK game-day DJ Warren Edwards, recently shut down after operating for three years in the city. The venue had become a familiar gathering place for sports lovers, students, and nightlife fans around Lexington.
Edwards, famously known as “DJ Warren Peace,” has built a strong reputation over the years as the energetic courtside DJ at Kentucky basketball games inside Rupp Arena. He also performs during Kentucky football home games, helping create the electric atmosphere many Wildcats supporters enjoy every season. Because of that popularity, the closure of his bar quickly became emotional news among members of the local community.
According to Edwards, the business did not close because of financial struggles or lack of support. Instead, the heartbreaking situation came after his mother, Nancy Ayers Edwards, suddenly fell ill. Warren explained that family had to come first, saying the situation forced him to reevaluate many things in life. The emotional announcement touched many fans who admired the close family bond behind the business.
Sallie Jane’s first opened in 2023 and was created to honor Edwards’ grandmother, Sallie Jane Walker. The restaurant became known for its lively atmosphere, cocktails, chicken wings, sandwiches, and music-filled nights. For a period, the establishment also partnered with JD’s Kitchen and Catering before eventually operating its own kitchen after the partnership ended in late 2025.
Even though the restaurant has now closed, Edwards made it clear that this may not be the end completely. He still plans to continue DJing locally and at Kentucky games, while also hinting that a future return to business could happen in another form someday. For now, though, many Lexington residents are simply hoping his mother recovers fully as the community rallies around one of UK sports’ most recognizable entertainment figures.
