The elite prospect had initially appeared to be leaning toward a stronger focus on the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball following earlier contact and visit planning, but new developments have now reopened the door for Washington.

The 5-star forward, Miikka Muurinen, is once again expected to consider an official visit with the Huskies after previously prioritizing other programs in his recruitment process.

Muurinen, a highly regarded international prospect from Finland who has developed through the U.S. prep system at Arizona Compass Prep, is one of the most sought-after forwards in his class due to his size, versatility, and two-way potential.

Washington’s coaching staff is believed to have remained persistent throughout the process, keeping communication active as they looked for an opportunity to re-enter the picture.

The rescheduled visit is now seen as a major opening for the Huskies, who are aiming to make a stronger impression as the recruitment battle intensifies.

While no final decision is expected immediately, the renewed interest gives Washington a meaningful boost in a race that still includes several top-tier college programs.
