Guardians put right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco on the injured list

The Cleveland Guardians placed Carlos Carrasco, who was scheduled to start Tuesday’s game, on the injured list due to an acute neck spasm. To replace him, the team called up Xzavion Curry from Triple-A Columbus.

Curry will start Tuesday night’s home game against the New York Mets. Carrasco, a 37-year-old right-hander, previously pitched for the Mets for three seasons after being traded from Cleveland.

He joined the Guardians this season as a non-roster invitee and has made nine starts in 2024, posting a 2-4 record with 34 strikeouts, 18 walks, and a 5.16 ERA over 45 1/3 innings. Curry, 25, started one game for Cleveland this season, pitching five scoreless innings with two hits, three strikeouts, and one walk against the Boston Red Sox on April 15.

Over his career, Curry has made 44 big-league appearances, including 12 starts, compiling a 4.03 ERA and a 3-5 record in 109 1/3 innings.
