FAYETTEVILLE — Anthony Switzer, a transfer from Utah State, is returning home to join the Razorbacks.

Switzer, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 210 pounds, hails from Arkansas and previously played for Marion High School. After starting his college career at Arkansas State, he transferred to Utah State. Switzer recently entered the transfer portal and visited Arkansas on Wednesday and Thursday for an official visit.

“It’s the best fit for me, and I’m the best fit for them,” Switzer remarked. “At the end of the day, we mesh well together. I only have seven months left in my college football career. So that’s the biggest thing I can come in and be a good fit for the University and teammates. It’s really just about my family.”

How was the official visit experience?

“Man, the visit has been amazing,” Switzer exclaimed. “It was everything I dreamed about as a kid. I grew up in Augusta, Arkansas, so I’ve been a Hog fan all my life. This is a dream come true. Get to see the facility, see Coach Pitt (Sam Pittman), and spend time with Coach T-Will (Travis Williams) and Coach (Deron) Wilson. I finally got to meet Bobby Petrino. It’s been everything plus some.”

Throughout his college career, Switzer has played at linebacker and safety. He discussed the role the Hogs have envisioned for him.

“Yes, they are recruiting me to play the Hog,” Switzer confirmed. “A little bit of overhang to the boundary too. Just depends on personnel. I feel like T-Will is going to give me a chance to maximize my versatility.”

In the 2023 season, Switzer tallied impressive stats, including 85 tackles, 39 solo tackles, eight for loss, three sacks, one interception, five quarterback hurries, a fumble recovery, and four pass breakups.

He opted for the Razorbacks over other schools like Pitt, Duke, Memphis, and Colorado.

Arkansas’ recent portal commitments include Rodney Hill, a running back from Florida State, Larry Worth, a linebacker from Jacksonville State, and Anthony Switzer, a safety-outside linebacker from Utah State.
