Moore still has the task of appointing a defensive coordinator, but he has filled the vacancy left by Jay Harbaugh in coaching special teams. J.B. Brown, who has served as a special teams analyst since the 2021 season, has been promoted to the role of special teams coach.

Another anticipated move for the Michigan Wolverines involves the hiring of Steve Casula as the tight ends coach, as per the Wolverine report. Casula previously spent two years as an offensive analyst with the Michigan football staff before serving as the offensive coordinator at UMass under Don Brown for the past two seasons.

The decision to bring Brown into the special teams coaching position aligns well with feedback from Michigan football players who highlighted his crucial behind-the-scenes role, similar to Kirk Campbell’s role with the offense in 2022 when he was an analyst.

Currently, the Michigan Wolverines still have positions to fill, including a defensive coordinator, linebackers coach, and safety coach. Additionally, there is an extra opening since Campbell will now coach quarterbacks. As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the status of running backs coach Mike Hart, defensive line coach Mike Elston, or secondary coach and co-defensive coordinator Steve Clinkscale.
