While many North Carolina players have explored transfer options this offseason, Luka Bogavac has chosen a different path, confirming he will remain with the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball for another season.
The Montenegro native made it clear he has no plans to enter the transfer portal, becoming the first player from last year’s roster to commit to staying. His decision provides an early building block for the program as it enters a new era under its current leadership.
Bogavac was a late addition to the team last season, with his eligibility situation drawing attention right up until the start of the campaign. Despite the uncertainty, he quickly became a key contributor once cleared to play.

He appeared in all 33 games, splitting time between starting and coming off the bench. Over the course of the season, he averaged 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while playing more than 24 minutes per game. He also shot over 40 percent from the field and nearly 35 percent from three-point range.
One of his standout moments came in a win over Clemson, where he knocked down six three-pointers on his way to a 20-point performance, showcasing his ability as a scoring threat.
Bogavac’s return gives North Carolina a versatile guard who can both shoot and create opportunities for others. With a new system expected to be implemented, there is optimism that he can expand his game and take on an even larger role.
His decision to stay offers stability for the Tar Heels during a period of roster movement and signals confidence in the direction of the program as it prepares for the upcoming season.
