Music Community Pledges $2.5 Million for Paul McCartney Statue at Sundance Square, Fort Worth
In a heartfelt gesture of admiration and gratitude, the global music community has officially pledged $2.5 million to fund a commemorative statue of Sir Paul McCartney at Sundance Square, one of the most iconic cultural hubs in Fort Worth, Texas. The tribute is set to honor the legendary Beatle’s extraordinary contributions to music, his enduring influence on generations of artists, and the profound love he has inspired across the world.
The initiative, spearheaded by a coalition of musicians, fans, philanthropists, and arts organizations, comes as part of a broader campaign to immortalize McCartney’s legacy in places beyond his native Liverpool. Texas, known for its rich musical culture, was chosen due to the strong bond McCartney has shared with fans in the region and his memorable performances in the Lone Star State throughout his career.
A Monument to a Musical Giant
The statue will feature a life-sized bronze sculpture of McCartney in his prime, mid-performance with his signature Höfner bass guitar slung across his shoulder, capturing the energy and charm that defined his stage presence. Local sculptor Maya Jensen, whose works have adorned public spaces throughout Texas, has been commissioned to design the piece.
“We wanted to capture Paul not just as a Beatle, but as the global symbol of peace, unity, and musical genius that he is,” said Jensen. “This statue isn’t just about his music; it’s about the way he’s made people feel for more than six decades.”
Why Fort Worth?
While some questioned why a McCartney statue would be erected in Texas instead of the U.K., organizers explained that Fort Worth has played a unique role in McCartney’s post-Beatles journey. His concerts in Texas have often drawn some of his largest and most diverse crowds in North America. His 1976 Wings Over America show in Fort Worth is still remembered as one of the most electrifying performances in the city’s music history.
“Paul McCartney’s shows here were more than concerts,” said Emilio Rogers, director of the Texas Music Heritage Foundation. “They were cultural milestones. He bridged generations—grandparents who heard the Beatles in real time, and grandkids who discovered him through streaming. This statue is our way of saying thank you.”
An Outpouring of Support
The $2.5 million funding goal was met in less than eight weeks, thanks to major donations from artists like Willie Nelson, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift, all of whom credited McCartney as a key influence. Crowdfunding also played a significant role, with over 35,000 fans from around the world donating between $5 and $500 each.
“I wouldn’t be the artist I am without Paul’s melodies, his lyrics, and his heart,” Taylor Swift wrote in a statement. “To see a statue honoring him in Texas, my home state, feels deeply personal and right.”
In addition to funding the statue, the campaign will also finance a music education initiative in local schools, titled Let It Learn, focusing on songwriting, music history, and performance. The goal is to inspire young artists the way McCartney inspired millions.

A Celebration in the Works
The unveiling of the statue is set for October 9, 2025—a date chosen to coincide with what would have been John Lennon’s 85th birthday, underscoring the deep friendship and creative partnership that birthed some of the greatest songs of the 20th century.
The dedication ceremony is expected to feature live performances, special appearances from major artists, and a possible video message—or even attendance—by McCartney himself, who is reportedly touched by the gesture.
“He’s always loved surprising people,” a source close to McCartney shared. “It wouldn’t be surprising at all if he flew in quietly just to walk the square and feel the energy.”
Fan Reaction: “All You Need Is Love—and a Statue”
Across social media, fans have celebrated the news with overwhelming positivity. Hashtags like StatueForSirPaul, FortWorthHeartsMcCartney, and HeyPaulHeyTexas began trending within hours of the announcement.
“I’m flying from Liverpool to see it the day it’s unveiled,” tweeted one lifelong fan. “It’s not about geography—it’s about gratitude.”
Others shared stories of how McCartney’s music shaped their lives, from wedding dances to moments of healing during personal struggles. One post simply read, “Paul gave the world hope. Now we give him a home in Fort Worth.”
A Legacy Cast in Bronze
As the statue plans move into the design and construction phase, organizers emphasize that the tribute is about more than honoring a man—it’s about celebrating a movement.
“Paul McCartney represents the highest ideals of art: compassion, resilience, creativity, and connection,” said Fort Worth Mayor Laney Tompkins. “We’re proud that Sundance Square will be a place where people can come to reflect, celebrate, and be inspired.”
For fans old and new, the McCartney statue will stand as a permanent reminder of the music that changed the world—and the man who helped write its soundtrack. From Liverpool to Fort Worth, the love continues to grow. 🎶✨
