Kentucky guard Kam Williams is approaching a crucial offseason decision, but all signs suggest he is leaning toward a return if  the situation is right.

Williams captured attention late in the season after making a determined comeback from a broken foot injury suffered in January. Following surgery, his season appeared in jeopardy, yet he returned in time for the SEC and NCAA Tournaments, where he delivered key contributions with his outside shooting and defensive presence. His resilience and impact quickly made him a player to watch heading into next year.

Despite that momentum, his future with Kentucky remains undecided. The biggest factor in his decision is his expected role on the team. With roster changes and incoming players likely, Williams is taking time to evaluate where he fits before making a final call.

Still, there is strong indication that his preference is to stay. He is comfortable within the program and values the environment around the team. However, he wants assurance that he will have a meaningful role that supports his growth and development.

In his freshman season, Williams averaged six points per game, shooting 44.9% from the field and 35.9% from three-point range. He also knocked down at least one three-pointer in 12 of his final 14 games, including appearances in both NCAA Tournament matchups—highlighting his late-season improvement.

For Kentucky, his decision could play an important role in shaping next season’s roster. If he returns, the team retains a promising two-way player with upward trajectory. For now, it remains a waiting game—but one that appears to be trending in a positive direction for the Wildcats.
