Washington is facing another unexpected roster shake-up as a talented player has chosen to leave college early and declare for the NBA Draft, taking a bold step toward the professional level.
Head coach Danny Sprinkle is already working through a major rebuild, relying heavily on the transfer portal after several key departures. While some exits were expected, this latest move stands out as a surprise and adds more pressure to the Huskies’ offseason plans.
Bryson Tucker, a sophomore forward, has officially declared for the 2026 NBA Draft after just two seasons in college. His decision comes despite modest production at the collegiate level, making the move a bit unexpected.
A former five-star recruit, Tucker began his career at Indiana before transferring to Washington. During his time with the Huskies, he averaged 5.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 21 games, showing flashes of potential but not fully breaking out statistically.
Still, his athleticism has never been in question. At 6-foot-7, Tucker is known for his explosive leaping ability and highlight-worthy finishes, often energizing the crowd with powerful dunks and second-chance plays.
Although many players today choose to stay in college longer, Tucker is taking a different path, betting on his upside and embracing the opportunity to chase his NBA dream.
For Washington, the decision leaves the roster even thinner, with only a handful of players currently set for next season. Sprinkle will now need to continue rebuilding through the portal as the Huskies look to stay competitive moving forward.
