The Kansas State Wildcats men’s basketball made a strong statement on the recruiting trail by securing a high-level guard for their 2026 class, flipping a key commitment from another program. The move adds momentum to a class that is quickly gaining attention.
This marks the second time in recent days that a recruit has followed head coach Casey Alexander to Manhattan, highlighting the growing influence of the new staff and their ability to retain relationships built during previous recruiting efforts.
That player is Jaylen Alexander, a 6-foot-2 point guard from Oxford, Alabama, who had originally committed to the Belmont Bruins men’s basketball before changing course. He was widely regarded as the top piece of Belmont’s incoming class and one of the most highly rated recruits in the program’s history.

A standout at the high school level, Alexander built an impressive résumé that includes being named both the MaxPreps and Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year for the 2025–26 season. He led his team to a 30–4 record and a state championship while earning tournament MVP honors. Over the course of his career, he scored more than 2,000 points.
On the court, Alexander brings size and versatility to the guard position. Known for his length, defensive instincts, and ability to create scoring opportunities, he has the skill set to contribute in multiple roles. While still developing physically, his leadership qualities and all-around game make him a strong long-term prospect.
Kansas State views him as a developmental piece who can grow within the system. He is expected to begin as part of the rotation, with the potential to take on a larger role as he adjusts to the college level.
With this addition, the Wildcats continue to build toward a sustainable future, focusing on player development and depth as they prepare to compete at a higher level in the coming seasons.
