Kansas State has officially added another key piece to head coach Casey Alexander’s staff, hiring former Belmont standout Kerron Johnson as an assistant coach—marking a homecoming for the former Wildcat.

Johnson, who spent the last four seasons on Alexander’s staff at Belmont, follows his former boss to Manhattan as Alexander continues to shape his coaching staff with the Wildcats.

A decorated figure in Belmont history, Johnson was inducted into the Bruins’ Hall of Fame following a standout playing career from 2009 to 2013. During his time as a player, he helped lead Belmont to three NCAA Tournament appearances under legendary head coach Rick Byrd and was part of the program’s only 30-win season since 2000.

Johnson earned back-to-back Most Valuable Player honors in his final two seasons, winning the Atlantic Sun Conference MVP in 2012 and the Ohio Valley Conference MVP in 2013.

As an assistant coach, Johnson contributed to four consecutive 20-win seasons at Belmont, including a regular-season conference title in 2026.

He is the first member of Alexander’s former staff to join the Wildcats since Alexander was hired as Kansas State’s head coach. Alexander was officially introduced after a successful tenure leading the Bruins, and the addition of Johnson brings a familiar face with a proven winning pedigree to Manhattan.

Johnson is expected to begin his duties with the Wildcats immediately as the program prepares for the upcoming season.
