Chelsea are not planning a move for AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez, despite recent speculation.

The Blues have been linked with the Mexican forward, who could leave Milan before the transfer deadline and has also been discussed in connection with a possible swap deal involving AS Roma’s Artem Dovbyk.

Gimenez only arrived at Milan from Feyenoord in January and has scored six goals in 22 appearances for the Serie A club. Prior to that, he had a prolific spell in the Netherlands, netting 65 goals in just over two seasons.

Reports suggested Chelsea might target him following Liam Delap’s hamstring setback, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the London side will not pursue Gimenez. Instead, Enzo Maresca has recalled Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Jackson is poised to leave Stamford Bridge after an agreement was reached with Bayern Munich for an initial loan that includes an obligation to buy.
